I started my career in programming as a COBOLII developer for AT&T Bell Labs. I won't bore you too much with gory details of the 3 month long 8 hour a day/ 5 days a week training class that they put us through just to call ourselves Associate Staff Members. I will say that I survived that 3 months and passed the test and then spent 11 plus years at AT&T learning C/C++, JavaScript, Java, JSP and so much more before going out on my own.
These days I work out of my home and love every minute of it. I have the luxury of loving what I do so I probably spend too much time doing it. If you ask me what I would like to do in my leisure time one of the things on the top of the list is to work on my latest programming project.
My favorite project is one that requires some complex programming and much "heavy lifting". My idea of "heavy lifting" is a statement somewhere in the project requirements that says something like: we don't know how you are going to pull this off but we really need this... I love a good challenge and thankfully I seem to find one every day!
